Best walking shoes for wide feet – Find high volume walking shoes
Looking for E-width sneakers? Double E walking shoes? Triple E? It’s Not Easy. Many brands and styles are not available for wide feet. Don’t settle for anything less than a perfect fit. Take a minute to browse through our list of the best walking shoes for wide feet.
Our objective is to help you find walking shoes that conform to your wide foot shape and offer all-day comfort. That way, you can walk more, exercise longer and be more fit.
If your shoes are not really wide enough, you will develop foot problems eventually. It’s only a matter of time.
On the other hand, the right walking shoe can provide a new level of injury prevention and improved quality of life.
But all wide feet are not created equal…
Some people, like myself, need extra width in the toe box, but not in the rest of the shoe. If I go for an overall high volume shoe, they’ll fit through the toes and be way too loose everywhere else.
Not a good idea.
For me, Altra is a great-fitting option. As you can see, the shoe is formed to fit “peasant” feet… Wide in the toes, but normal width through the heel. However, they don’t provide the substance and structure I need for walking or hiking. For that, I need a shoe with a rigid sole and an after-market footbed that cups the heel and supports my high arches.
There are only a few brands of walking shoes that come with adequate footbeds, right out of the box: Vionic, Merrell, and Oboz. So if you have any foot issues or heel pain, that would be a great place to start.

Buying shoes online is the best way to find the perfect fit.
I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. But buying shoes from Amazon beats the heck out of driving from one store to another, only to get skunked on sizes and styles.
There are only a few shops in my town that carry shoes designed specifically for walking. There are a lot of hiking boots, and tons of running shoes, but very few walking shoes. So even if I drove to every single store I was often left with only a few lousy choices.
With Amazon, there are hundreds of choices. We recommend that you order at least two different shoes, in two different sizes each. Then put them on and wear them around the house for at least half an hour. Take your time. Walk around in them. Go up and down the stairs and make sure they don’t slip, pinch or grab. That’s the best way to decide.
Then just send back the pairs that aren’t your top choice. Returns are easy, especially if you have Amazon Prime.
